A study published in the journal Neurology, reports that low iron levels in the blood and anemia could be linked to an increased risk for dementia. The study took place over 11 years and required the participants to engage in memory and thinking tests during this time. Researchers found that patients with anemia had a higher risk for developing dementia compared to those who were not anemic. Thus, anemia was associated with a 41% higher chance of dementia.
